Task # 1 Reading

READALOT: Create a reading log and a book review form. Read as many books as you can this term and review each one. Submit your completed book reviews at the end of term. Your teacher should give you a prize for the most reviews completed.

Task #2 Research

Create a powerpoint presentation about three famous and inspiring speeches that you can find and highlight the features that makes them, or the speakers special. Report back via email.

Task #3 Reading

Watch the news for a few nights and then practice speaking like a newsreader. Record yourself reading a major news item. Submit as a WAV file or WMF (windows media file) video file via email here. (Make sure the file size does not exceed 5 MB)

Task # 4 Writing / Speaking

Write a 1 minute long presentation for your side of a debate about a topic that you agree with very strongly. (Video yourself presenting it, edit the video and then burn it to disc and submit it. (No limit on filesize)

Task # 5 Writing / Speaking

Write a 1 minute long presentation that represents the other side of the debate from above. Submit the text of your argument here.

Task # 6 Poetry

Create a poem of your own about something in the living world.

It may rhyme if you choose, but it needs to contain at least four sentences. Once you have finished, edit and proof-read it and then publish it in MsWord.

Task # 7 Storytelling

Create a story of your own choice. It can be fantasy, realistic or fiction. The story needs to have a title, a start, a middle, and an end. It can be as big as you want, but it needs to be at least 4 paragraphs long. Once you have finished, edit, proof-read and publish. Email to homework@green-planet.co.nz .

Task #8 Design

Design your own animal. List all it's features and describe it's habitat and give it a name. You can colour it in and even create a model of it's habitat. Once you have finished email pictures of it to homework@green-planet.co.nz .

Remember: No-one is "expected" to do any of these tasks.... But, if you do try some, try not to do any more than 4 a term as the focus is on quality, not quantity. Also, make sure that you allow yourself plenty of time for the tasks that you do. Thats right. You decide when you do them, how you do them and how much effort you put in.

Even if you only do one task, it will be marked with all the rest and you will be recognised for the presentation, quality and effort.

Marking will have a strong focus on quality and effort, not quantity.
