Let it be seen: Keep it green.

We do apologise for any inconvenience caused when we update this page. Our students are busily designing homework tasks for kids right across New Zealand to do, and we are busily trying to get all of the tasks online and that is why this page keeps changing.

The curriculum learning area tasks

You do not have to do any more than 4 tasks each term. Thats right. You decide when you do them, how you do them and how much effort you put in.

Even if you only do one task, it will be marked with all the rest and you will be recognised for the presentation, quality and effort.

Marking will have a strong focus on quality and effort, not quantity.

Curriculum areas

technology,green-planet,green-technology Technology:

The Technology curriculum is well suited to the self-directed independent style that Homework For Success caters to. There are numerous student-designed tasks in this area as well.

Science:

The Science Curriculum is where we find our main objectives for integrated learning in term 3 with an integrated unit on the Living World. Student designed tasks also feature strongly in this area.

Language:

There are many tasks in this area and the term topic for writing is Hamburger speeches and persuasive language: debates. Students have designed writing tasks based on our Living World topic as well.

maths,green-mathematics,planet-maths

Mathematics:

Maths doesnt have to be about times tables and subtraction or any of those tricky concepts. Real maths problems are about selecting the right strategy and the answer may not be that important. Its getting to the answer that is.

Religious education:

R/E can be a subject that throws a light on all of the good things about our fellow man. Religious education can be exactly that: learning about religion(s). Considering the huge number of people that belong to ng about religion is a necessary step in gaining an understanding of our world.

Arts:

The arts covers Drama, Singing, Music, Acting and the Visual Arts. The arts curriculum is well suited to these open-ended student-designed tasks.

Tikanga / Te Reo Maori

There are a number of tasks in this area and at this stage, most tasks are focused on the reo, rather than on the tikanga, but that will change as more tasks are designed and submitted.

Social Sciences

Social Sciences, (aka social studies) is the curriculum area where students learn about how other people live and interact and how they "fit" with their environment and about the culture and history of peoples.
