Science homework tasks

Task #1
Become an expert:
Select a particular habitat or eco-system and discover everything that you can about it. Create some sort of report, IN YOUR OWN WORDS, or some sort of model, diorama, or display, complete with pictures and diagrams and submit a photo of it via email to expert@green-planet.co.nz
Do not forget to include references to where you got your information from and make sure that it is all in your own words.

Task # 2
Select a plant, insect or animal that you know very little about and make a realistic but manageable sized model of it. Highlight the features that make this species special. Photograph it and send pics in via email to expert@green-planet.co.nz and bring the model into class for display.

Task # 3
Select a native bird species and create a profile card for it. Include it's diet, habitat, life-span, life cycle, enemies and any other interesting facts that you can think of or find out. Make a realistic but manageable sized model of it. Highlight the features that make this species special. Photograph it and send pics in via email to expert@green-planet.co.nz and bring the model into class for display.

Task # 5 Research
Find out all that you can about a famous "dead" scientist or astronomer and create a powerpoint profile about him. Make a mobile that shows either how the planets in our solar system orbit the sun, or showcase your scientist's discoveries.

Remember: No-one is "expected" to do any of these tasks.... But, if you do try some, try not to do any more than a couple each term, as the focus is on quality, not quantity. Also, make sure that you allow yourself plenty of time for the tasks that you do. Thats right. You decide when you do them, how you do them and how much effort you put in.
Even if you only do one task, it will be marked with all the rest and you will be recognised for the presentation, quality and effort.
Marking will have a strong focus on quality and effort, not quantity.
